Description

Diving into the sparkling pictorial universe of "Ultreya: Más Allá", it's evident that Paz Arés Osset presents us not only with a visual landscape but with an intimate testimony of her spiritual and transcendental journey. Measuring 145 by 110 cm, the canvas goes beyond merely carrying color and shape; it's a cartography of the soul guiding us through the dark seas of Samsara to the luminous horizon of enlightenment.

The title "Ultreya", originally chosen by the artist, roots itself in the cursillista Christian meetings, where participants gathered seeking spiritual guidance and comfort. The word, with its connotation of "going beyond", deeply resonates with the essence of this painting. It's a call to persevere, akin to ancient sailors shouting "ultreya" upon sighting land, marking the end of a challenging voyage and the beginning of a new chapter.

Arés Osset's mixed technique plays an essential role in this spiritual journey. The carborundum, with its rough textures and heart-like curvy shapes, symbolizes the tumultuous sea of Samsara. But within this sea float brilliant blue agates, like islands of hope and serenity. These agates, with their ethereal and luminous glow, contrast and balance the roughness of the carborundum, reminding us that even amid the storm, beauty and light can be found.

The acrylic metal strengthens this transition from the dark and turbulent Samsara to the luminosity of Nirvana, adding an almost celestial shine to the composition, reflecting that coveted divinity and light we all seek.

On the right side, we find a touching detail: a copper metal circle, delicately drilled with small crosses. It represents a liberated spirit, rising above the sea of Samsara and heading to the sky, painted in an intense yellow and sprinkled with mica shining like floating stars. This spirit heads towards an open circle, skillfully cut out in the painting on the top left. This hole symbolizes the possibility to transcend the limits of the painting itself, inviting us to go beyond enlightenment, even beyond Nirvana itself. Behind the hole, a smaller version of the same metal plate is glimpsed, suggesting a spirit that, in its ascent, has transcended the confines of nirvana in the hope that all achieve enlightenment, benefiting all beings.

With "Ultreya: Más Allá", Paz Arés Osset invites us not just to observe, but to reflect and embark on our own spiritual journey, reminding us that, despite adversities, a luminous horizon always awaits. It's a song to the resilience of the human spirit, a testimony of faith, and an ode to the eternal quest for truth and light. A profound reflection on our own spiritual journey, the possibility of transcending our limitations, and aiming for collective well-being. A masterpiece that will remain etched in the collective memory of contemporary art.
